Day 7: You woke up. Celebrate!
Now listen to what REALLY makes you feel alive...
Yesterday was my 46th birthday. Before this year's events, I would have been bemoaning that fact. Observing that, as this number we place so much significance on increases, so do the number of wrinkles, grey hairs and random aches and pains.
I may have been complaining that I don’t feel this arbitrary number inside, and time is passing in a flash; I’m not where I thought I would be professionally and “oh no, I’m another year older,” etc.
This year, however, I take pleasure in another birthday. Those greys hairs and wrinkles. The random twists and turns that my life has taken have always been interesting!
I’m revelling in the reality of waking up, lucky enough to celebrate another year on this planet. I’m fortunate because I get to celebrate another birthday with my gorgeous husband and daughter. I’m touched that both my sons called from afar, wishing me, “Happy birthday, Mum. Love you”. In addition to receiving some lovely cards and text messages from thoughtful friends.
That feels wonderful.
I’m still healthy.
What’s not to love about getting older?
Because the reality is so many people won’t make it.
You woke up - now celebrate!
One of the many benefits of getting older is acknowledging how we humans have overly complicated our lives with things we think we need or require to find happiness (a concept I don’t believe in, but that’s another post).
Like I mentioned in this week’s newsletter, in the quiet, if you really listen, you’ll be able to pinpoint at least one thing that makes you feel alive inside; REALLY alive.
It will be the thing that makes you ‘zing’. It’s inside you, I promise. And that’s all you need.
It’s not on your phone, not in a shop or at the bottom of a bottle.
Stop…listen…what does it say?
