Drawing Breath, Out in the Wild!
Finding your voice and a creative mindfulness exercise to try
The Creative Prescription is a newsletter that explores how creativity can improve our well-being and help us live a more mindful life; one that counteracts the ping, dings and distractions of modern-day living.
It all started in lockdown.
I'd had a brain meltdown in 2018, found mindfulness and it changed my life. So much so that I knew I needed to spread the word about this ancient, no-nonsense technique which literally changes your mind. And life.
Therefore during lockdown, I decided to train to teach mindfulness meditation, where I met Andrew Swiney, founder of Mynd. He has done a fantastic job at spreading the word about mindfulness in the workplace, at home, and in schools.
So it was amazing to see how he and his festival partner Ed, brought together their knowledge and passion for wellbeing, last weekend at the Wellness in the Wild festival, in what was an absolutely stunning venue in Suffolk.
I want to say thank you to Andrew and Ed for trusting me to speak about the well-being benefits of creativity and teach my own version of creative mindfulness to adults and kids. Both art and mindfulness have had such a profound effect on my life, it's an honour to be able to spread the word.
Plus now, I now get to show off some properly lovely professional photos of myself in action!
It’s short and sweet this time. I’m currently reviewing and reflecting on the past 6 months and where I want to go in the months to come. I’m also taking time for my own creative practice.
Enjoy the resources below and as always, stay creative. See you soon

🎙️ Finding Your Voice with James Victoire, The Futur with Chris Do
This episode will help you become your true creative self. Designer, artist and author James Victoire explains how in his signature cheeky and humourous way during this interview with The Futur’s Chris Do.
He’ll also help you bridge the divide between artistry and commercialism, without compromising your own vision. I came away from this full of creative confidence to be myself and trust my creative instincts. And I just loved this line:
“I’m not for everybody, just the sexy people!”

🎵 Music to Move Your Pencil To
This piece of music moves me to tears, it’s so magnificent. I encourage you to take 15 minutes for a mindful moment and just listen. Creativity at its most beautiful 🥰
✍️ Creative Exercise - Drawing the Breath
This is an exercise I use at the start of every creative mindfulness session. It’s a simple mindful activity that aligns body and breath.
Drawing the breath is a quick and easy creative exercise to access at any time of day. If you’ve been feeling a little stressed, your mind is busy, or you just need to relax at the end of the day, this a beautifully simple exercise.
As always this isn’t an exercise in perfection. Embrace those wobbly lines and allow the hand to follow the pace of the breath.
I’ve started sharing these creative mindfulness exercises on my Instagram, but I’d love to know if you’d prefer to see them on YouTube? Let me know when you get a moment, in the comments.
💬 And Finally…A Quote to Live By
